Established in 2010, ‘JaiBaan’ is a group of community architects who are interested in the process of collaborative design and want to use this process to develop creativity in issues related to housing, community culture, the environment and cultural heritage. The Jai Baan group works in the belief that the potential of people and space and the power of working together with others can give birth to an aim and direction that creates an ever better community.
Jai Baan tries to play the role of mediator creating neutral space. Sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences allows for younger generations and people working in the community, cultural and environmental fields to gain a real understanding of the group’s work. Those who take part in the group’s activities improve the community as a by-product as it were—the group hopes that central neutral spaces can help increase knowledge and promote change.
