Beatriz has 15 years of experience in environmental law, advocacy and sustainable development, having worked in law firms, government agencies and NGO’s. During her career, she carried out activities related to policy design, implementation of programs and policies, as well as institutional representation. She has negotiated and implemented international cooperation projects and has significant experience engaging and liaising with groups of people to discuss and define public policy – as a government representative but also representing the private sector.
At UN Environment, Beatriz is responsible for lead the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, operations and other activities of the Unit related to Ecolabelling and Consumer Information. She coordinated the implementation of the Ecolabelling component of the Sustainable Public Procurement and Ecolabelling (SPELL) project, and of the project “Advancing and Measuring Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) for a Low-Carbon Economy in Middle-Income and Newly Industrialized Countries”. Both activities also contribute to the progress of the Consumer Information Programme (CI-SCP) of the 10 Year Framework of Programmes (10YFP) on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns.
Beatriz holds a Master Degree in Comparative Law from the University of Florida in the US and a Master Degree in Environmental Law from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in France.
